Jelena works at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Department for Materials and Structures. The focus of her research over the past 11 years was on the sustainable alternatives to concrete focusing on material properties, durability, structural application and environmental assessment. This work was conducted through her PhD thesis and 8 international research projects. She is also a teacher of Concrete Structures and a designer spatialized in concrete structures.
“Areas of research:
· Concrete structures: physical, mechanical and structural characterisation of reinforced concrete elements;
· Green concretes: development and characterisation of sustainable concrete solutions with recycled concrete aggregate, high-volume fly ash and limestone;
· Demountable reinforced concrete solutions and connections
· Sustainability assessment of concrete structures.”
Jenela is currently a pilot leader within Horizon Europe Project Circ-Boost. Serbian pilot project aims to demonstrate the possible application of climate-neutral structural solutions by building the ground floor house that can be easily assembled and disassembled. She is a member of CircularB Cost action and fib task group T2.9.
